1st graders discuss politics
on the walk home from school yesterday, clara and her friend had a political discussion, prompted by a Hillary sign in a neighbor's yard.
CLARA: OH NO! THEY'RE FOR HILLARY! Don't they know she isn't winning!?
GABRIELLA: Who are you for?
CLARA: I'm for Obama. Who are you for?
GABRIELLA: I'm for Hillary. My parents want Obama to win but I like Hillary. I watched the debate but I couldn't talk because my parents told me to be quiet.
CLARA: Well, Hillary is feeling very frus-ter-ated right now because Obama is winning and she is losing. The other day, she said, "SHAME ON YOU, BARACK OBAMA!" for no reason. It wasn't very nice of her but she is frus-ter-ated!
GABRIELLA: Oh. You're right. That wasn't very nice.
